Observations and planning
· To ensure that all the children’s eylog learning journeys are up to date and are to the nursery’s standard
· To give training to all the new staff on the eylog and planning
· To ensure children are rotated on the planning every other week
· To make sure all the new children and nursery practitioners are created an account on the eylog within a week of the start date
· Supervise the completion of development records and observations
· Responsible for planning and observations of a group of Key Children
Staffing
· Liaise with the nursery manager to formulate working staff rotas, ensuring that you are meeting the staff ratios at all times
· To arrange staff lunch covers
· To make sure staff responsible on staff deployment sheet carry out their duties properly and regular checks should be carried out
· To solve any concerns raised within the rooms and if not resolved discuss with the manager
· To ensure peer to peer observations are carried out on monthly basis and staff performance is monitored
· To introduce all new staff members into the room’s routine and procedures
· To recognize staff training needs and mentor all members of staff
Children’s learning and development/Safeguarding
· Supervise the planning and preparation of the activities in all the rooms, ensuring that they meet the correct criteria for each of the age groups.
· Ensure that staff are always supporting children’s learning and development
· To ensure daily checks are carried out
· To ensure that ratios are adhered to at all times
· To check children’s registers on daily basis
· To monitor two years progress check and ensure they are carried out in time and accurately
· To organize regular updating of daily diaries by all staff members
· To liaise closely with parents and update them daily on their child’s progress
· Ensure kitchen paperwork is completed and monitored regularly
Nursery presentation
· Ensure displays are up to date with links, labels, photos and children’s’ speeches are changed on regular basis.
· To oversee cleaning rotas and ensure the room(s) are clean and tidy at all times
· To make sure the interest table in the foyer is set up for celebrations
· Ensure there are role play areas set up in all rooms and changed regularly
· To make sure the sensory room is set up properly at all times
Management
· To deputize for the nursery manager and step into the managers role in his/her absence.
· To supervise staff and students and assist with staff appraisals and supervisions
· When necessary, to show potential customers around the nursery and be able to discuss the nursery policies with them
· Organize, attend and minute regular staff and managers meetings.
